Beginning – Dog Training
Dog Obedience

Description: This class is designed to help you teach your dog the behaviors, skills and manners they need to become a good companion. You will develop better communication with your dog by learning to get and keep your dog’s attention. You will learn and practice training techniques based on positive reinforcement, including marking desired behavior, verbal praise and treats.
Beginning companion dog obedience training skills include: come, sit, down, stay/wait and walking on a loose leash as well as some tricks and games. Good manners include: polite greetings, not jumping on people and remaining focused around distractions. Class exercises are structured to build handler awareness of potential behavior problems as well as building each dog’s self-control. This class is also a great first step in preparing for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC title) certification.
Requirements: Dogs 5 months and older. Dog must have been in your care for at least 3 weeks. Classes cannot accept dogs with aggression problems.
