Intermediate – Dog Training
Dog Obedience
Description: This class is designed to help you advance your training skills and take your dog’s accomplishments to a higher level. You will build on communication and positive reinforcement techniques so that getting and keeping your dog’s attention becomes second nature. This is the perfect prep class for taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC title) assessment. It is also a great foundation class for those considering other competitive dog sports (e.g. obedience, rally, agility, herding etc.). You are welcome to repeat this class.
Specifically you will be working on adding duration and distance to “stay”, speed and distance to “come”, formal “heeling” and additional behaviors you need from your companion. We also take it up a notch by adding distractions to all of these exercises. Your dog must have completed and excelled in the “Beginning Dog Training” class or have prior approval of the instructor.
Requirements: Completion of beginning dog training class.
Length: 6, 1 hour classes
Cost: $145 (RHE resident discount available)
CGC Assessment: CGC assessments are offered regularly for a $10 fee. Contact the instructor for more information.
